The Golden Retriever is a beautiful hunting dog used to retrieve game.
They have an excellent temperament and are very much a people dog.
The Golden retriever is a relatively new breed. started in 1864 by Lord Tweedmouth. Bred from the now extinct Tweed water spaniel and several other breeds, thought to be the flat coat retriever and Irish setter.
Goldens should be well balanced dogs of medium size bitches usually approximately 20-22 inches at the shoulder, dogs a couple of inches taller. Coat colour can range from cream to dark golden.
