How to Treat your Dog's Skin Problem

Dog's Skin Problem

Common skin problems such as dry skin, rashes, hot spots and bug bites can be safely treated at home using natural home remedies, while medical treatments such as the use of steroids and allergy shots could result in negative side effects in dogs. This a good reason every dog owner should make an effort to learn how to treat their dog's skin problems using natural home remedies.
Dog skin problems may be caused by food allergies or food intolerance which may result in improper food digestion for the dog. This sort of digestion related problems may result in malnutrition and vitamin deficiency which may cause unhealthy skin problems in dogs. Food allergies may also result in skin rashes and some common food allergies include allergies to eggs, lactose, dairy protein, gluten and meat protein; therefore if your dog is experiencing food allergies feed him on food made for dogs that have sensitive skin or hypoallergenic foods.
A natural home remedy for treating rashes suffered from bug bites is to apply a cotton ball that has been soaked in solution of aloe vera, magnesium, witch hazel or apple cider vinegar on the infected areas of the dog's skin. You could also achieve the same result by mixing water and baking soda and then applying the solution on the infected areas of the dog's skin and another home remedy method is to boil a mixture of a quarter tablespoon of Epsom salt, two cups of water and four tablespoons of sage and then pour it into a spray bottle after straining. Spray the mixture a few times every day on the infected areas of the dogs.
Oatmeal baths and Epsom salt baths are extremely effective in curing a wide variety of skin problems in dogs such as allergic reactions and dry skin. Blend a cup of oatmeal into fine powder and then add a warm bath to the powder after which you can then have your dog bathe in the oatmeal for as much as ten minutes. When you have finished bathing your dog, then give him a thorough rinsing to wash off the oatmeal solution. Supplements such as brewer's yeast and omega-three fatty acid and garlic will ensure that your dogs consistently get all needed vitamins and nutrients to maintain a healthy skin.
