Now that you have a cute little Chinchilla in your home, make sure that you take good care of it. These little animals are very active and need extra attention, unlike the case of other pets like cats or dogs. Chinchilla care should begin with providing your new guest with proper accommodation. A good cage should be therefore, your topmost priority. Best thing is to go in for a cage with multiple levels, since these Chinchillas are known to jump around a lot and need ample space to play. Remember, to ensure that the cage is kept cool enough for Chinchillas hate heat. A nice, cozy bed is another thing that your little pet will need. It is always advisable that you use pine or cedar shavings as bedding, as they are a healthy option and won't cause skin problems.

Norwegian Forest Cat
September 14, 2009
Cats, Cats Breeds, Pets Breeds
The Norwegian Forest Cat is an ancient breed of cat, having changed little from it's origins in Norway.
The NFO can be traced back to the 1500s, but it's history is much longer than this. There are many references to large cats in Norse mythology, with descriptions that can only describe the NFO.
Some believe that they were white, but this is likely to be a confusion caused by early Norse translations referring to 'large grey cats, covered in frost', this translating to white cats as the myths were passed from mouth to mouth.
By the 20th century, this magnificent cat was becoming a rarity and at risk of becoming extinct.
Size - large
Head Shape - Triangular, where all sides are equally long; with good height when seen in profile; forehead slightly rounded; long, straight profile without break in line (no stop)
Chin - firm
Ear Shape - Large, with good width at the base; pointed tips; with lynx-like tufts and long hair out of the ears
Ear Placement - High and open, so that the outer lines of the ears follow the line of the head down to the chin
Eye Shape - Large and oval, well opened, set slightly oblique
Eye Expression - Alert expression
Eye Colour - All colours permitted, regardless of coat colour
Body Structure - Long, strongly built; solid bone structure
Legs - Strong, high on legs, hind legs higher than the front legs
Paws - Large, round, in proportion to the legs
Norwegian forest cats love to explore, if you have any bookcases or shelves they will be up on top of them seeing if anything is going on that they should know about! They also love to play not just as kittens but as adults as well, they will look to their human companions for games and love it when you chase them about.
Norwegian Forest Cats do not require as much grooming as other long haired breeds, their coats are pretty much self maintaining, they do require a little extra grooming when moulting out their winter coat.
They don't have any particular health problems and often live to a good age.

They are extremely intelligent and need constant stimulation, they are indoor cats(though a big enough safe catrun is fine.
They are inquisitive and insist on being involved in everything and are a very clean cat.
They prefer a calm and peaceful environment in which to live with them being No 1 at all times.
They can be left on their own when necessary but not for long periods of time as this will make for an unhappy Siamese and they are not shy to tell you.

Bengal cats
September 14, 2009
Cats, Cats Breeds, Pets Breeds
The Bengal cat breed is a new breed of cat which has been developed to have the markings and body structure similar to an Asian Leopard Cat whilst still having the a friendly and gentle temperament like a domestic cat.
The Asian leopard cat was used to introduce the short pelts (coats) making the hybrid offspring closely resemble their wild ancestor.
The first generation Bengal is extremely difficult to breed.
A geneticist named Dr. Willard Centerwall has been involved in the breeding of leopard cat hybrids for use with leukaemia research.
These cats were bred from and produced the founding cats of the Bengal breed.
Males typically weigh between 14 to 20lbs , with females being usually smaller 10 to 12lbs.
The usual colours are brown spotted, snow spotted, blue spotted, black spotted and silver spotted although all colour variations come in the Marbled pattern too.
The Bengal should have small rounded ears , a strong chin, puffy whisker pads and wild expression.
Bengal cats are active cats and always ready to play. A lot of breeders and owners deem them more dog like than cat like as often they play games such as fetch.
Bengal cat is also capable of jealousy therefore introducing a new play mate of whatever breed will need to be done gradually over on average 1 to 2 weeks.
The Bengal is usually a very healthy breed of cat due to originating from a hybrid mating.

Dog Breeds, Dogs, Dogs Encyclopedia, Pets Breeds
It is difficult to distinguish between fact and legend when looking at the history of a breed, but it is believed that Kazimierz Grabski, a Polish merchant, traded a shipment of grain for sheep in Scotland in 1514, and brought six Polish Lowland Sheepdogs to move them.
A Scottish shepherd was so impressed with the herding ability of the dogs that he traded a few sheep for a few dogs.
Beardies are used for sheep droving and gathering, which is done by running and barking, were originally used to drove sheep to Smithfield market in London, are still used to day up and down the country and is a noisy worker, a desirable trait.
They need plenty of excercise and mental stimulation, easily trained.
The Beardie should be lean, not heavy or short legged, and be able to see plenty of daylight under the coat.Head, broad, flat and a strong muzzle, and in proportion to the body, pigmentation of nose, lipsand eye rims should be asolid colour.

The Labrador Retrieve is widely considered to be the most popular dog breed in the world. It is very popular in the United Kingdom and United States.
There are 3 different colours of Labrador : black (the original breed colour) ,Yellow (ranging from fox red to pale cream) and chocolate / brown
They have expressionful eyes and a strong square head with soft drapping ears.

The coat is short and weather proof but these dogs do moult, they will have two major moults per year and shed a small amount daily.
The most common health issue with Labs is hip displacia and arthritis, being large dogs and active this is going to be one to watch for , signs of this can occur in quite young dogs too, its an idea to buy from a good breeder who has bred for soundness and has had health checks done prior to mating to ensure that hip scores are low .
These dogs love their food and if given half a chance will eat you out of house and home.
Siberian Husky

Dog Breeds, Dogs, Dogs Encyclopedia, Pets Breeds
The Appearance of the Siberian Husky is striking, and that of a wolf having a dramatic resemblance to its ancestor in particular the Grey or now known Timber wolf. This resemblance however, is only that a resemblance and it is considered no closer related to the wolf than any other breed.
The Siberian Husky is a medium sized dog which origins date back many thousands of years and is considered one of the oldest breeds of dog ever, and of the Chukchi tribes of the east-Siberian peninsula. There is also evidence, however, that Siberian dogs were also imported from the Koryak and Kamchadal tribes.
